Moja mavrica, you made my activism and social justice heart open up

11. 6. 2026

Hi, I’m Silke! I’m currently writing this from the library where we spent so many hours working, writing projects, brainstorming ideas, preparing materials for street actions, reflecting on our days, and so much more. As I’m spending my final week in Ljubljana and wrapping up my internship at Moja mavrica, I’ve been reflecting on the past two months.

It has been an incredibly rich experience. My time at Moja mavrica was not only an amazing learning opportunity, but also personally enriching and eye-opening. Through this internship, I connected more deeply with my passion for activism and social justice, something that has always been part of me, but that grew even stronger during my time here. Working on topics such as climate justice, social justice, gender equality, overconsumption, and many others made me realize how right it feels to be involved in these issues. It is reassuring to know that, whether through my future career, volunteering, or personal relationships, this is where I belong. These are the causes I want to contribute to and the fights I want to be part of.

A special highlight was the opportunity Moja mavrica gave me to participate in a youth climate meeting in Italy. Being surrounded by mountains, the sea, and like-minded people is something that truly fills my heart. Together with youth organisations from across Europe, we developed a campaign on summer heat waves and cities, a campaign that is now being implemented and will launch very soon. Having the chance to take responsibility in a project that I find both meaningful and urgent has been incredibly valuable.

I’m especially thankful for the amazing friends I made here and my dear co-interns Flora and Laura. This experience wouldn’t have been the same without you.

Michelle, thank you for being such a supportive supervisor. From the moment we met, I felt comfortable sharing ideas, creating, asking questions, being critical, and taking initiative. Thank you for trusting me and giving me responsibility.

I also want to thank Iva and Teja for trusting me with your project works and letting me be part of the Moja mavrica team.

This experience brought me closer to myself in a way I couldn’t have predicted beforehand. I’m extremely grateful.

Hvala.
