Internship experience at Moja mavrica
30. 9. 2026
Why do my internship at home when I could do it somewhere else? Famous last words before suddenly standing in Ljubljana on my first day of my internship.
I had plans in my head to do an Erasmus internship for longer and one day I just randomly checked the Erasmus internship website to see what my options are. The Moja Mavrica was the very first that popped up and when I read through it, I just thought “Why does this sound so good? No way this will work out”. So I applied and a week later I had the confirmation: I am going to Ljubljana for two months!
So I found an apartment, organised everything, packed a way too big suitcase, learned a few words of Slovenian and went on the journey. And a journey it was.
From the very first day I felt very welcomed and appreciated the peaceful work environment. You are treated as if you were a normal coworker, you will get your own work, work on your personal project and I even had the opportunity to plan, organise and facilitate a Youth exchange on the topic of active citizenship. During the course of the internship I learned a lot about teamwork, personal strengths and testing out my personal boundaries.
Apart from the internship, I learned to love sLOVEnia. Even though Ljubljana is small you can still explore a lot and even at the end of the internship, I am still discovering new favorite spots. Apart from that, you can go on so many weekend or day trips and in just two hours you can be in the mountains or on the beach, or even go to Croatia or Italy. I rarely spend a weekend in my home because there was so much to see.
I am very thankful for Michelle and the remaining team of Moja Mavrica for welcoming me and I am also super grateful for all my friends and connections I made during my stay here. Especially the first months with my fellow interns Marichka, Ema, Marie-Sophie and Jeremias really helped me get a good start into this beautiful experience.
Slovenia, Ljubljana, Moja Mavrica, all of my colleagues and my new friends, you will be missed and I really wish I could have stayed longer, but all good things must come to an end.
