GENERAL INFORMATION
TO WHOM IT IS INTENDED
My Rainbow Institute is a training base for interns and students. Our amazing young professionals bring new perspectives that complement our work. Together, we create a collaborative space to learn, grow, share knowledge and cocreate experiences.
This program is intended for volunteers, unemployed people, students and professionals who want to gain more work experience and competencies. You can apply as part of volunteering or in cooperation with your school/faculty/organisation.
It is important to note that we do not run a daily youth centre and that we don’t work in closed offices. Our work is mobile and community-based. We use various public spaces in Ljubljana, and the spaces of our partner organisations, which offer excellent and dynamic coworking conditions.
Internship practice in our organization is based on openness, transparency, visibility and active presence in public spaces. Interns who wish to complete their internship with us must be willing and open to actively engage in dialogue with people on the streets, in the community, and in public spaces.
Duration: flexible (usually 3 months)
Description: Initially, you will work on planning, implementing and evaluating activities together with our volunteers and target groups, like leisure evenings, focus groups, sports and art activities, street actions and interventions, educational activities, research and writing, including learning about grant proposals and administrative work.
HOW TO APPLY
Send an email to info@mojamavrica.si with the following:
– your field of study and level of studies (Bachelor / Master)
– your learning objectives
– any specific requirements from your university (about working hours, mentorship, etc)
– the preferred duration and starting date of the internship.
– a short video (max. 2 minutes) stating your motivation and why you want to work with us specifically. Please do not read aloud in your video, speak freely and tell us why you want to join.
We have supported 55 local and international students in completing their study placements, work placements, practicum and internships within our organization.
We collaborate with 28 local and international faculties, enabling a broad spectrum of expertise, interdisciplinary integration, and a high level of quality in the execution of our activities.
Mobility projects for higher education students and staff
Objectives of the action
The objective of this action is to contribute to establishing a European Education Area with a global outreach and to strengthen the link between education and research.
The action aims to foster employability, social inclusion, civic engagement, innovation and environmental sustainability in Europe and beyond by enabling students from all study fields and at all study cycles to have the opportunity to study or train abroad as part of their studies.
Eligible participating organisations to form a mobility consortium with us
A mobility consortium in higher education can be composed of higher education institutions holding a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.
All member organisations of the mobility consortium must be identified at the time of applying for the consortium accreditation.

“When interns ask me if they’ll be my right hand during their internship, my answer is no. My goal is for them to become independent in their work. Which means that I am their right hand. I’m there to offer feedback, support, guidance and conversation whenever they need it. It means an incredible amount to me to hear interns say how much they enjoy their time here, especially because they can see how much I genuinely love what I do and how much I enjoy it. That energy carries over to them. They begin to see meaning in their work, feel a sense of satisfaction and recognize opportunities for growth and learning. Working with interns brings me immense joy. Each one of them adds something new, something uniquely their own. They bring a willingness to learn, enthusiasm, ideas (often a bit “out there,” but precisely because of that, unique and refreshing), creativity and positive energy. Just as they learn from me and from us, I learn a great deal from every single one of them. Mentoring interns is not an easy task. Hello future volunteer! As a feminist philosopher with a Ph.D. from the University of Ljubljana, my work spans theory, education, and grassroots action. I’ve spent over thirty years participating in regional and transnational movements for queer feminist, animal, and workers’ rights. Twenty years ago, I joined Amnesty Slovenia through the Stop Violence Against Women campaign, eventually working as an LGBTIQ coordinator, educator, and author of Love is Love: A Guide to Understanding and Learning About Human Rights (2007). Currently, I am supervising and organizing activists.
While living in Hungary, I stood side-by-side with incredible activists from around the globe—anarchists, queer feminists, and trans activists. Together, we took to the streets to resist Orbán’s authoritarianism, organizing rallies, performances, and feminist self-defense workshops while fighting for the rights of homeless people, migrants, students, animals, and our environment.
Every person who wants to change the world has a unique path to walk. If you are on this path, my hope is to share my experience, encouragement, and trust in the good — so that you learn not to feel alone on this path.

“My experience as a mentor in this internship process was deeply meaningful, both professionally and personally. Supporting this journey allowed me to witness how academic knowledge in educational psychology can be integrated into lived, relational, and community-based contexts, particularly within LGBTQ+ mental health work. Throughout the sessions, it became clear how essential it is to bridge theoretical understanding with experiential learning, especially when engaging with topics such as identity, safety, and inclusion. The mentoring process also highlighted the importance of creating reflective and flexible spaces where personal growth, self-awareness, and professional skills can evolve together. I believe this internship program is particularly meaningful because it enables participants to critically engage with LGBTQ+ mental health from an academic perspective while also developing practical, embodied tools to support real communities, fostering both competence and empathy.”
